A little equestrian, a little eccentric, Picasso’s Pony brings her own perspective. An oversized cream pony strikes a wonderful pose against a red field, surrounded by tiny birds, curious creatures, and flowers that seem to have wandered in from their own little worlds. Inky navy frames the scene, while small touches of turquoise, moss green, and warm camel reward a closer look. A cream floral border gives this spirited composition its finishing frame, and her low to medium pile has a textured, age-softened feel. And yes, she has the confidence of someone who knows she belongs in a gallery.
